• Foundations give big boosts to some Knox County schools, but others are left behind
  A look at how private fundraising for public schools creates unintended inequities. Important to note here - private fundraising for public schools is legal and seems to not have much of an impact on students' academic results.

• Straddling two worlds, UT protest leaders hold close the best of America and Palestine
  The Husain siblings were born in America and grew up in Knoxville, but their father is from Palestine. They’ve visited family in Palestine several times and each time have felt at home instantly, just as they do in East Tennessee, where they grew up with country neighbors whose accent sounds similar to them to the accent of their Palestinian cousins – if you just replace English with Arabic.

• National conversation on banning books comes knocking at Knox County Schools' doors
  Localizing the national discourse on book bans, led by the far-right, parents' rights advocacy group Moms for Liberty.

• The last three midterms in Knox County show blue creeping in. Check out the maps
  Mapped data from state House and Senate races from the past three midterm elections — 2014, 2018 and 2022 to show changes in voting patterns.

• Knoxville says secret police chief searches protect candidates. History shows that's not true
  Built a database from scratch, using LexisNexis and archived news reports to debunk the city's claim that open police chief searches are detremental to candidates.

• Investors spent big on parking lots, empty buildings, iconic lofts near Old City stadium
  Scraped data in two stages — first from an ESRI website and then from the county property assessor's website. Reported on the data, wrote and designed the story layout too!
